  • Development of a microsatellite with remote sensing, informational and educational capabilities
  • Operational applications in hazard monitoring
  • National Centre for Research and Training in Space Science, Technology and Application. The logistic infrastructure of the centre has been improved in 1999
    • receiving station for the NOAA satellites
    • computer network linked connected at 256 k to the Internet
    • the ASTEP (Advanced Space and Aerospace TEchnology Park) project has been started at the end of 1999.
  • Experimental form of multidisciplinary postgraduate training in general space science and technology has been developed under the auspices and financial support of the Romanian Space Agency
  • Organization in Bucharest of the UNISPACE III Regional Preparatory Conference for Eastern Europe, January 1999
