Bucharest as seen from the International Space Station

on 10 January 2020

On 3 December 2019, the International Space Station (ISS) captured this picture of Bucharest by night, as it passed over Eastern Europe. A larger version of the image can be found at the end of the article.

ESA has a live ISS tracker for those who are curious where the Space Station is at any given time. You can find it here (maximize the window for the best view).

In certain lighting and weather conditions, the International Space Station can also be seen from Romania when it passes over. The NASA website offers an interactive feature for those that wish to receive alerts whenever the ISS is visible from certain locations.

To access the feature, you need to choose your city (or the city closest to you from a list) and it will list all future sighting opportunities. A mobile alert system is also available.
